Dedi (alternatively Djedi or Djedy) Profile

Dedi (alternatively Djedi or Djedy) is the name of a soothsayer and magician in an Ancient Egyptian tale set in the era of Khufu, one of a number of stories to be found in the Westcar Papyrus. He is said to have been able to reattach the severed heads of birds and then to resurrect them, but objected to doing the same to convicted criminals, basing his refusal on ethical considerations, claiming: "Surely, it is not permitted to do such a thing to the noble cattle!" , the "noble cattle" being a term which referred to mankind.
